4D ultrasound images can be obtained at any stage. However, we do recommend a gestational age of 27-34 weeks for the best facial detail. At this stage, there is more fat on the baby's face, yet still enough fluid to get great images.
For full body images and gender determination, the optimal gestational age is 18-23 weeks. In this time period, it's exciting for parents to see movements that mom can't even feel!
The Prenatal Picture uses the GE Voluson Pro. This GE system has been shown in TV commercials and featured in many articles from around the world. It is THE machine to perform 4D live-motion ultrasound. Please note, many centers claim to use “state-of-the-Art” equipment, when in fact they use older, inferior technology. So insist on a GE system!
